Prior to the winter driving season, when conditions can be less than ideal and colder temperatures demand more of your vehicle, it makes sense to take preventive measures to ensure you vehicle is roadworthy. This information is taken from Michigan Living and is published by the Automobile Club of Michigan.
Check battery terminals for corrosion. Terminals can be cleaned with a wire brush dipped in baking soda and water. Check the antifreeze strength in the radiator with a hydrometer. Antifreeze should be clean, at the proper level and provide protection to 36 degrees below zero. Check the oil level with the dipstick. Add oil when needed. Check the owner's manual for the intervals between changes and for the recommended SAE viscosity.Keep the brake fluid level within a quarter-inch from the top of the reservoirs. Follow directions in the owner's manual for power steering fluid. If fluid is needed, add slowly to avoid overfilling. The car should be on level ground in "park" position with the engine running to check the automatic transmission fluid. Press the middle of each belt to test tension. If it gives more than 1 to 1.5 inches, tighten or replace it. Check hoses for cracks or fraying. Replace as needed. Hold the air filter up to a light. If you can't see the light through it, replace it. Keep the windshield washer reservoir filled with solvent. Replace wipers if they are split, leave streaks, or skip. Make sure the lights and signals work. Replace bulbs as necessary. Inspect tire tread wear and maintain proper pressure indicated in the owner's manual. Check pressure with a gauge when tires are cold.

Winter is approaching means we have to make sure our vehicle is prepared to take on the sleet, glacier, and cold. Yes, there are some effortless maintenance tasks that one can do on his own to make his vehicle winter ready. Here, you have tallied up few winter checklists which will help us while doing winter maintenance. One can also take the help of a car mechanic to prepare his speed machine for the winter challenges. Whether you prepare your for the winter on your own or hire a professional, neither step can completely eliminate the possibility of car failure when you are on the highway. So, for me, keeping the winter emergency kit in the car is the best way to fight against the winter dares.

Cars should be taken care off at a regular interval in order to increase the lifespan of your vehicle. winter affects the vehicles most than any other season. So after winter is over, we should take care of our vehicles and should take it to the service center for the purpose of maintenance. Battery is mostly affected due to the extreme cold weather and should be properly maintained. If it is two to three year old and showing problems then it should be repair or replaced. And different type fluid present in your car should be checked and should be replaced if needed, as they thickens with the decreases in the temperature and hence could affects the functionality of the car.

I like the twelve point checklist given in this blog post for winter car care. Tires should be monitored periodically. Tires with lower tread depth produces lesser traction on the road surfaces. Tire tread depth should be measured at a regular interval. And if needed then it should be replaced by a new winter tire. One should also check the wiper blades used in the car. If it is damaged then it should be replaced. A volt test should be conducted to know the condition of the battery and if it is damaged then it should be replaced by another battery according to the owner's manual.

Cars are required to be taken care of properly in the winter season as winter is harsh for cars compared to other seasons. Twelve point checklists mentioned in this blog post are quite appreciative. Battery terminals must be checked for corrosion. Terminals should be cleaned using a wire brush dipped in baking soda & water. Tires should be checked for air pressure with a tire pressure gauge. Tire tread depth must also be checked with a penny. If needed we should use winter tires to produce better traction on snowy road surface.

Winter is very harsh for cars. I like the twelve point checklist mentioned in this blog post for winter car care. We should use winter tires as these produce better traction on snowy road surface. Tires must be properly inflated & tread depth must be measured on a daily basis. Battery is mostly affected due to extreme cold weather. So we should check battery terminals for corrosion. If it is two to three years old & shows problems then it must be replaced with a new one. Level of all the fluids must be checked.

Winter has adverse effects on cars. In winter the road becomes snowy. So the driver faces difficulties in driving on the snowy road surface. It is recommended to use winter tires during this period. These tires provide better grip and produce more traction on the snow. Different essential fluids used in the car get thicker due to extreme cold. So, it is advised to use thinner oil and other comparatively thinner fluids. Cold weather also affects the battery. The condition of battery must be checked. If it is more than 3 years old it must be replaced with a new one.

In winter extreme cold affect the battery of the car. The batteries which are weak during summer, may turn into dead battery during winter. Coolant makes the engine free from freezing during cold weather. So it is necessary to check the level of coolant before the arrival of winter season. The coolant level should not be low and there should not be any leak in the system. The vehicle tires must be replaced with winter tires as these produce better traction on the snowy road surface. Tire pressure must be checked at regular intervals.

Thanks for sharing thoughts on the winter car maintenance. The vehicle needs regular maintenance to run smoothly for longer time periods. Without proper maintenance, vehicle could not stand against the extreme colder temperature. So, different components of the vehicle should be inspected prior to the arrival of the winter and damaged or abnormal components should be replaced with suitable substitutes. And any kind of mechanical error needs to be fixed in time to keep the vehicle in good running order. Have a look at https://www.cerroneseuropean.com/bmw-service/

I agree that the terminals of the battery should be properly cleaned to ensure continuous power supply. The extremely cold temperature of the winter has negative effects on the health of the battery. So, the battery should be properly insulated to deal with such situations. Influence of the extremely cold temperature of the winter on the properly charged battery is too low. So, it is highly recommended to properly recharge the battery to protect it from the extreme colder temperature.
